Best Kept Secret of the Atlanta Suburbs

Whether you’re a resident, vacationing, just passing through, or looking for fun and relaxation, Douglas County is the perfect midpoint station for everything you want to do in the heart of Atlanta, with numerous outdoor activities, fun things to do, delicious restaurants, and gorgeous places to stay.

With little of the traffic congestion afflicting so many other Atlanta suburbs, we offer our visitors and residents what many call “a better pace” away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

Here, you are welcome to see the stars at night, jog in a park, shop at the local Arbor Place Mall, explore the extensive trail systems or the Comet Trail, find a welcoming place to worship, or just relax and unwind. Eight thousand acres of recreational space are yours to enjoy, including the popular Sweetwater Creek State Park, Dog River Recreational Complex, Foxhall Resort, Hunter Park, Deer Lick Park, and multiple festivals held year-round at our parks and resorts and in historic Downtown Douglasville.

Sweetwater Creek State Park offers miles of hiking, biking trails, camping and yurt camping, paddling, kayaking, and canoeing.
