June 7, 2019 (Douglasville, GA) – Fifteen recent graduates from the Douglas County School System completed the Career Ready Training Program. The training program was created in 2018 in partnership with the school system, the Douglas County Economic Development Authority, West Georgia Technical College, Georgia Manufacturing Alliance, and industry partners; in 2019 the United Way of Greater Atlanta signed on as a sponsor. The program provides intensive training in soft and technical skills over nine days concluding with a graduation ceremony and interview day with local employers. The goal of the program is to assist local employers with qualified, trained talent and provide unique access to local employers for students who have decided to enter the workforce in our high demand industry sectors, such as advanced manufacturing, construction and logistics. The industry partners commit to hiring Career Ready Training Program graduates into full-time positions with career advancement opportunities and benefits paying at least $11.50 per hour. At the conclusion of Interview Day, 9 of the 15 received job offers and all 15 were invited by at least one company to come in for a second interview.
